[Solved] Can't get proper behavior from Elephant ... Surface Dial works fine

Hello,   

I recently had to rebuild my computer and so re-installed Elephant.  But I'm having some major issues:  

1)  When I start up Elephant I wait until the splash screen tells me to click my mouse.  I do not touch dial while waiting. 

2)  After splash screen goes away  I sometimes can use it to control a virtual control but then after some time passes I seem to have lost Elephant .. its no longer running, or its running but I am not able to manipulate any controls. . 

3)  I check to see if Elephant is still running... It is,  but it is a blank screen!  I can only "see" a black screen if I alt-tab and see it is one of the programs running,  but If I alt-tab to it, I get nothing..  I'm just looking at my (usually Virtual instrument) .  

4)  I should stress that I am able to use the "normal"  Surface Dial functions.   

Any idea of what is going on here?   I have a installed a  fresh updated version of Windows 10.
