Hi!

I noticed that while scrolling through my project using the Microsoft Dial, unwanted automation points get added if the cursor happens to be in an automation lane when the scrolling begins.

How can I prevent that please?

Cubase 12.0.30, W10

Thanks!

Thank you so much for the reply!

I agree 100% - mouse cursor should not be in automation lane! Sometimes when working hard and fast though it is easy to forget to check that before beginning the scroll ... 🙁

I have a vid showing how scrolling the Dial can inadvertently create automation points, and also the Control Panel settings when that happens - attached.

I think maybe the problem is that the Dial sends out a "Click" command just as it starts to scroll. Is that something I could maybe disable in the control panel without affecting my other commands?

Thank you, Pablo!

Hi - Sorry for the extra post. I just saw that it is not just a matter of the Dial creating automation points. The vid in the previous post shows how it can create and adjust automation points by scrolling, but I'm realizing now that is just because the pointer was on an automation lane when scrolling started.

I have seen scrolling the Dial can:

1) Create empty audio and MIDI parts if the cursor is in an empty portion of a track when scrolling begins;

2) Drag an audio event from one track to another if the cursor is pointing to that event when scrolling begins;

3) As in the vid, create and move automation points if the cursor happens to be touching an automation curve when scrolling begins.

It seems that scrolling the dial on my system anywhere at all in the Cubase project can inadvertently change some aspect of the project.

If that behavior can't be fixed with a change in control panel setting or otherwise, it's not the end of the world - I can scroll within the Cubase project like I always have before getting Elephant, and then still be able to use Elephant's amazingly wonderful behavior to help me with the rest of the navigation. But if there happens to be an easy fix, I'd love to do it.

Thank you!

The video not show anything abnormal, I see you moving automation curve under combined mode.
I assume then you switch to scroll mode at any time to scroll up or down, and then the problem appear?  (please confirm that)
