I can't seem to get Elephant to startup when I boot my PC. I have "Run on Startup" checked in Elephant's preferences menu and Elephant is also set to start upon login in Windows Settings (Startup Apps). Elephant is also set to run as Administrator.

When i boot my computer, I have to manually run Elephant in order for it to work. Is there something I'm missing?

Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Elephant v2.7

Thx!

Yes, admin account and UAC is set to "never notify" (off). I just tried uninstalling/re-installing (followed by a restart) and the problem persists.

Strange!

I've done a little more research on this problem and it looks like Windows 10 does not allow automatic startup of any apps that require admin privileges (which Elephant does). This is a well-documented restriction as I'm finding lots of people trying to solve similar issues with other apps. Has Elephant been designed to get around this restriction in some way? If not, then I imagine that is what I'm running into and I would be surprised if this wasn't a known issue already(?).

About permission elephant require admin rights.
As I said before can't reproduce the problem on Windows 10, where I test and also can't reproduce on Windows 11, all development Windows machines has UAC enabled.
You already try leave UAC on default configuration, exactly how's Microsoft provides the OS?

Ah, you're saying I need to keep UAC enabled. One of the Windows OS optimizations recommended by Avid for ProTools on Windows systems is to turn UAC off. This explains why my home system doesn't have this issue (I have UAC enabled there).

On my home system with UAC set to default and I have to approve Elephant every time I start up. I wish there was a way to avoid that...

Try and check if that work, and you never ever should disable UAC, is a very important security tool.
About the security prompt, there is no way to disable that, and disable UAC is terrible idea.

Just to be clear, when i said UAC is disabled I actually meant I have UAC set to "never notify". I tried setting it to "Always notify" and restarted and it made no difference. I still have to start Elephant manually.

As one last troubleshooting step, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller to completely uninstall Elephant and any leftover registry entries (there were a few) and reinstalled. After restarting and reinstalling Elephant again from scratch, the problem still exists.

I just tried using Task Scheduler to start Elephant (with highest privileges) at startup and it still won't start. I'm kind of lost as to what I should try next...

Ok, using Task Scheduler to start Elephant "at login" (vs "at startup") did the trick. I had to keep the option to start with "highest privileges" turned on as it does not work with this option unchecked.
