Hi

Is there an option to move the mouse to quit control over the hovered object instead of having to click the dial to switch back to my mouse?

Basically I would like to be able to use it like scroll mode but with the ability to hide the curser over the hovered object id like to control and when i am ready to control something else i can move my mouse to escape, instead of having to take the extra step to click the dial to escape to use my mouse.

Warm Regards

Ian Phere

For do what you need, just try with option  locked disabled, then you can move the mouse at any time after scroll without have to click the dial or send keystroke (hotkey) form your mouse or keyboard for change of mode.
Anyway work with lock mode disabled cause interference with the dial action in the other mouse modes when you move your mouse.
Anyway try and test.

Thank You for the quick reply!

That is a solution but I was hoping that maybe it would automatically link as if it was in midi mode and I can freely use my mouse for other purposes as long as the dial is not being touched at the same time. Right now it emulates a mouse so there is no threshold value ex (1-127) so if you keep turning the dial any which way it takes that many times to turn back once the value hits below its minimum 1 in this instance or above its maximum 127  then you have no control of the object unless you keep turning the dial until its back in its original position to gain control the object again. Without using it in midi mode, when midi mode is turned on there is no longer the ability to hover and control and mapping becomes a 2 step process again.  I was under the impression that this was one of the ways to use your Elephant software with the Surface Dial. If this feature is not available now please consider making it.

Keep up the fantastic work! and Thank You for the support.

I take a look if mouse move can release some action, but that behaviour probably will be more a nightmare than a solution.
Any accidental minimal mouse movement you do end on surface dial action cancelled.
I already play with this time ago with no good or something I can name as a practical result.
Anyway I re-check again soon and back with some info.

I delete your duplicated topics and leave this available only.
Patience, I back soon with something if can improve this behaviour, anyway I think will be a optional feature.

Apologies ,I didn't realize it posted twice.

Could you possibly look into something that would be revolutionary to midi mapping? The idea is the ability to override any midi programmable application to one touch/click midi map with the same concept as the Elephant software, (active software running in the background).

If you have not already given it the run around one concept is ex. Traktor has pre mapped your keyboard to learn to be mapped the same way, so take generic keyboard scripts (hotkeys) for the software and overlay it with a software that enables you to access to one click midi map, so click the desired object to control, move with controller and its mapped. Then a lock feature can be implemented to prevent from accidental mapping.

I have owned and have been using your software since Smithson Martin and i could not be happier. Your software has elevated my work flow to new heights.

Bravo Sir Pablo Martin!

Thanks so much for your words, and no Apologize is ok.
About the concept you explain, is how Armadillo and Elephant born (previous to this KM)
I working in some thing probably see the light, anyway can´t confirm.

Anyway regarding your request I stay here thinking and rethinking and probably I understand why my previous try to make this behaviour work in a terrible way lol.
With not guarantees I start test some things here. All this regarding to mouse mode from dial.
I back soon with some info of the results, maybe this time work 100% ok, and if that happen, this mode will be enabled when lock mode is disabled.

This time what I do is directly listen mouse events  from HID.
Your post inspired to me to back to review this issue, and think now finally have this behaviour working ok.

The behaviour will be available in version 1.9  and is a option user need enable.
Step 1, user need disable locked mode. (locked mode remain there duet some users prefer work in that way)
Step 2, once locked is disabled, check box for  enable mouse release will be available, user need check that.
Once this mode is enabled, you can hover with the dial, rotate the dial to control the object, any mouse move release the action and you can move in more transparent way between objects you want control.

This time is working ok but exist a limitation, this mode I think is perfect for mouse pad from laptops, duet any mouse event release the Dial action this mode not is ok for use with external standard desktop mouse.
For sure my original intention is for pad mouse, duet work with music production software with the mouse pad is something I really hate,  specially for move knobs and sliders.
Now this mode make super comfortable the mouse touch-pad  and or trackballs.
Again is highly suggested not use this with external standard desktop mouse.

Ian, what you use?  laptop with mouse pad? or external desktop mouse?  A Trackball?

Important! this not mean this mode can´t be used with standard mouse, with some practice you can use, I make some test here and is usable but need to train your hands.

With standard mouse the trick is release your fingers of the dial when you not operate the Dial, not move the mouse when operate the Dial.
With trackballs and touch-pads this bhaviour happen in more natural way, but is possible to train your brain to learn this way : )

Oddly enough i was in the middle of talking about my set up to explain from the previous posts more clearly and unexpectedly got closed out before i could reply lol

I have an external desktop track ball pad and that is the explanation to my workflow. There is a resistance with the ballpad so there is almost no unexpected cursor jumping.

That is great then! because this mode is great for combine with touch-pad and or a trackball Smile I mark this as solved.
I make more tests and release the 1.9 probably in few hours.
Also I add hide mouse on scroll to.

I think I should enable a chat later in some moment to open the chat and or streaming every some time with all Hi! computer users.

Ok, the version 1.9 is ready, but I found a limitation, scroll mode is the only one mode at least at this moment can’t be released with a mouse move.  The scroll require a click on the dial. All the other mouse modes can be released with mouse move.
I continue checking if can fix this.

Awesome, almost there!

I have an idea to consider and that is when the dial is in combined, Horizontal or Vertical mode to add a value to the object in control so the dial does not accede their minimum or maximum values so the dial has the same behavior control over the object as if it was midi mapped or in scroll mode and scroll mode can be left as it is now.  This way the software syncs its values to the Surface dial when the dial is moved and snaps back to the to the current value of the object in control. This would also prevent having to click on the object to control and reset if the surface dial has been rotated to many times out of the objects control.

Extended appreciation taking use to these implementations on the Elephant.

I will be right here ready to test and give feedback on version 1.9.

Hello, please I really appreciate post in the proper forum area any new idea, suggestion, request. There is a wish list section, please use that.  Please edit previous post, copy and paste in the proper forum area trough a new post, delete the other part from this current post.
Mix conversation topics is ok, but start to talk of one thing and end with other make the reading to other users not really useful.

About your previous request, here is a beta version:
https://savethehuman5.com/installers/Elephant-Installer-V.1.9-b1.zip
Ensure to close Elephant before try install this.
Important: This update as any new update override always the default template.

Remember you not should operate the dial at same time you move the mouse, that cause the mouse be non responsive for few seconds.
Tell me your results after test.
